YELLOW

We were still in the midst of a rainy, cold, overcast winter as we cruised south on I-5. These hardy humans living in the Northwest say it comes with the territory. If we decide to do something, we’ll likely be doing it in the rain.

We pulled into our campground in Corvallis, Oregon, home to Oregon State University and the Beavers. You know that we love baseball, so, we went to see an OSU baseball game on a chilly overcast day. OSU was playing Washington State. Very nice stadium and we managed to dodge the few raindrops that fell.

We took a walking tour of some of the campus. It was really nice. We saw Reser Stadium, home of the football Beavers, Gill Coliseum, the arena for the basketball Beavers, the soccer fields, the womens’ softball field, some of the classroom buildings, and administration buildings. We were mesmerized by the little robots which deliver food to students on campus. They are little boxes on wheels. They obeyed traffic laws, waited to cross at the crosswalks, and even lined up at the door of the building where they were delivering.

We walked downtown Corvallis. By the way, Corvallis means “heart of the valley.” It’s a beautiful downtown with trees lining the streets, lots of eateries, breweries, and shops. The Benton County Courthouse was built in 1888. The facility is regarded as the oldest county courthouse in Oregon still being used for its original purpose.

We found a wine bar called Corazon, which means “heart” in espanol. We met the owners and chatted with them for a while. Betty noticed a bottle of wine from Sculpterra, the winery we visited in Paso Robles, California. We told the owners about Pablo, the man we met at our park in Paso who recommended Sculpterra. They mentioned that a gentleman named Pablo was their one of the wine representatives who sold to them. Come to find out, he is the same Pablo. Hmmm. Anyway, we met Pablo the next time we went to Corazon and renewed our acquaintance.

Corvallis is in the Willamette Valley. Besides being a great area for growing grapes, the valley is also known for growing grass, which is harvested and shipped all over as sod. Here’s the catch. With grass also comes pollen, so the valley also has one of the higher concentrations of airborne allergens and of course, a lot of people suffering from seasonal allergies. Yikes.

We moved down I-5 a little further to Canyonville. We pulled into Seven Feathers RV Resort!! Wow! First, it’s a nice park with plenty of space and amenities. Second, they have a free shuttle which takes humans to Seven Feathers Casino. Hmm. I don’t think it’s a coincidence. It’s a good thing we don’t enjoy the thrill of playing games of chance.

By the way, I called this post Yellow because we have yellow flowers in it and we like Coldplay. Not very complicated.

OMG! A ballot drop box right out in the open. A vanishing phenomenon with all the fraud going around.

Mmmmmm

Cassie has sat on this same spot since 2003. Weird.
