Winter Blues

We are still in Denver waiting on the completion of our new home. This morning I heard them talking about all the snow (whatever that is) that fell last night and how cold it is. I heard Mom say it’s 12 degrees outside. I guess that is cold, but I am pretty cozy by the fireplace. It’s one of my favorite places in the house.

I don’t think Mom is a fan of the cold and snow. She says that she is Southern girl and that she much prefers the beach. From what I can tell, we are no where near an ocean. I am sure that we will visit some beautiful beaches on our adventure, but I think Mom would really benefit by feeling the sun on her shoulders and her toes in the sand.

Mom has been a little sad lately because her dear sweet Aunt Aurelia died a few weeks ago. Humans don’t have nine lives like us cats, so she will never see her again. Mom called her Rea and said that she was such a fun, good person who loved to to laugh. Rea also loved to dance with Dad at weddings. Dad said that he couldn’t keep up with her.

Betty and I don’t like seeing Mom sad, but Dad says that we should not worry. Mom just needs needs to feel her sadness because she loved Rea so much. Mom isn’t sad all the time. Sometimes she is laughing and seems like her old self. Then, sometimes she is quiet and she even cries sometimes. I guess when humans die, it can be real hard on the ones left behind. So, I am being extra sweet and giving her lots of snuggles to help make her feel better. Betty is giving her lots of love, too. I think Dad is a little worried about her, too, and he is giving her lots of love and snuggles. I promise we are taking good care of her and she will be okay.

Love,

Buster
