YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND

We spent a few days in beautiful Napa Valley, California and Mom and Dad visited a dear friend they hadn’t seen in about five years. Their friend, Sarah, is an amazing chef and she prepared a wonderful feast our first night in town. The next day we spent some time strolling around town. The streets are filled with restaurants, wine bars, coffee shops, and cute shops. We stopped in a place called the Bounty Hunter for Happy Hour and had a nice glass of red wine before heading home.

Sarah treated us to a glorious wine tasting at Opus One where we sipped the nectar of the gods … actually, it was just some very lovely red wine. Opus One is a winery that combines the winemaking techniques of Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi. As Mr. Mondavi said, “Wine to me is passion. It’s family and friends. It’s warmth of heart and generosity of spirit.” After we completed our tasting, we went into the cellars where the magnificent wine is aged. What a beautiful place.

On our last night in Napa, Sarah prepared another amazing meal paired with amazing wine. After dinner, Mom and Sarah started sharing stories and before long they were laughing so hard they were crying.

As Carole King sang, “Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a friend.”
