ROAM

Hi everybody. When Buster and I want some music to lift our spirits, one of the bands we can count on is the B-52s. The song Roam fits our lives right now. The B-52s got their start in Athens, one of the places I lived in one of my former lives. They aren’t necessarily going to provoke deep thoughts, but they have some great fun party tunes. I like them.

We’re on our way back to Southern California. There are a few things that we need to address on the trailer; just some regular maintenance and then a couple of issues that need repair or replacement. LV uses a company located in Valencia so that’s our goal.

We made a stop for a couple of days in Paso Robles. We stayed at this park on the way north so we knew it would be a great stopover. Besides, it gave us an opportunity to revisit Sculpterra, the beautiful winery with its art installations and beautiful architecture. It didn’t disappoint. The daughter of the resident iron artist was our host for a wine tasting. Plus, we saw our friend that we met the first time there.

We also made our way to Firestone Walker Brewery. Firestone Walker Brewing Company was formed in 1996 in Santa Barbara County by David Walker and Adam Firestone, son of Brooks Firestone and great-great grandson of Harvey Firestone who started the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. The brewery started on the Firestone family vineyard in Los Olivos, California and moved to Paso Robles in 2001. I made a point to try their stout and I was impressed. So many craft brewers focus on IPAs, which seem to be the most popular beer right now. I had the Parabajava, an imperial coffee stout. Very smooth and tasty, but be careful - it’s 13.8% ABV. Buster drove after we visited the brewery.

We stopped down the road at Buellton, which is another repeat stop. It was a beautiful day and Buster and I got a little workout in the gym. We have to watch our girlish figures.

Your friend,

Betty
