MMMMMMM. YUMMY.

Well, everyone, I want to let you in on a fairly well-known secret. I like my stouts. Buster is more a cognoscente of wine. Cats, like people, have their own tastes. Just to be clear, I will always enjoy a nice glass of wine, but I’m enthusiastic about stouts.

One of the fun things I want to do while we’re wandering around North America is to sample as many stouts as I can. Buster and I were born and raised in Atlanta, so I’ve sampled a good number of the regional beers and I have my opinions about them. I’ll share some of those opinions if the need arises. While we’re trekking around, I’ll give you a taste (in writing) about my experiences.

Just to get us started, I can recommend a stout to which the Dude was exposed, and in turn, shared with me. A cat named Andre turned us on to this brew. Thank you very much.

My first recommendation is called Mexican Birthday Cake. Mexican Birthday Cake is produced by Westbrook Brewing Company, which is located in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. For those who are curious, here’s the website. https://westbrookbrewing.com After I tasted this one, I tore into it, … ah, I meant to say that I enjoyed it responsibly every once in a while on special occasions. I think it’s a favorite in the South. I’m not sure how well known it is across the US of A.

Wow. This brew will coat your mouth, go down smooth, and lead you to the promised land. Be careful. This one has a stiff ABV of 10.5%. The people at Westbrook describe it as “a serious imperial stout aged on cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, cinnamon sticks, and fresh habanero peppers.” The heat comes around slowly and with a little reserve, just like me. Si, amigas! Disfrutar!

Betty
